TOOU was created to simplify and enhance the world of stock market investing through a thoughtfully designed simulation experience. Unlike traditional platforms that can be complex and overwhelming, TOOU provides a straightforward approach to learning and investing. The platform, recently launched in its beta version, was developed by my team members—(UX Research: Changjin, Heeyoung, Lody ✦ UI • Design System: Lody ✦ Front-end: Giwoong, Jihyun ✦ Team Leader • Back-end: Jiwon)—under the guidance of our mentor, Hyunsang, at Fintech Center Korea.
Many people, especially beginners, are intimidated by the complexity and risks of stock market investing. Traditional platforms often overwhelm users with excessive information and complicated interfaces, making it hard for newcomers to feel confident and take their first steps.
Then, how can we design a stock market simulation platform that makes investing easy and enjoyable for beginners, by breaking down complex information and creating a straightforward, supportive experience that helps users feel confident and engaged?
To support beginners in their investing journey, TOOU offers practical tools designed to simplify the process. Features include real-time trading data, customizable data views, detailed financial statements, and expert analyses, all supported by tooltips that explain complex terms and concepts. The intuitive dashboard also makes tracking investment performance and portfolio returns straightforward. By providing these user-focused features, TOOU aims to make investing more accessible and engaging, helping new investors build confidence and understanding in the world of finance.
Through analyzing competitors, including the mock investment services operated by four companies such as Korea Investment & Securities and Mirae Asset Securities, we were able to determine the direction in which TOOU should move forward. This analysis highlighted key areas for improvement such as ease of use, user-friendly UI, simple registration processes, and clear explanations of terminology.
Following the competitive analysis, we conducted surveys and interviews by categorizing participants into two groups: those who have used mock or real stock investment services and those who have not. This approach allowed us to gather detailed insights and compare experiences between users and non-users.
The user flow in TOOU is designed for simplicity and ease, guiding beginners through an intuitive onboarding process. Users can access real-time market data, buy and sell stocks, and view personalized dashboards to track portfolio performance. Tooltips provide explanations of financial terms, helping users navigate the platform with confidence.

Participating in the fintech internship course after graduation turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made, thanks to the incredible people I met along the way. What made this experience truly special was realizing the importance of growing as a team rather than focusing solely on personal achievement. It deepened my appreciation for the kind of success that can only be achieved together. As they say, "If you want to go fast, go alone; but if you want to go far, go together."
The opportunity to work with our insightful & professional mentor, Hyunsang, and my wonderful teammates—Jiwon, Jihyun, Giwoong, another Heeyoung, and Changjin—was a journey filled with both challenges and rewards. Creating a product together was more than just a project; it was a deeply enriching experience that taught me the true value of teamwork.
Our last two weeks of the hackathon, where we developed and launched "TOOU," a responsive mock investment service, will forever be etched in my memory. It wasn’t just about the end result, but the shared efforts, late-night brainstorming, and the sense of unity that made it an unforgettable chapter in my life💚.
